How To Recognize The Spirit Of Jesus

Updated: 4 days ago

If you are a professing Christian, with the true indwelling spirit of Christ, it is fair to assume that you'd no doubt recognize the spirit of Jesus. Observe the photo below, and ask yourself, Is this an image of Jesus?

If your answer is a definite no, then you must objectively ask yourself, How do you know? Is your evaluation based on your own emotional compass and personal perspective of what you'd imagine Jesus to look like (i.e. long hair, beard, etc.), or is it Biblically validated?

Are there Biblically legitimate ways to recognize and identify Jesus?

How do you recognize the spirit of Jesus?

In the book of Luke, after Jesus' death, the disciples went to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about all these things that had happened concerning Jesus' death and Mary's testimony of his resurrection. While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them, but their eyes were kept from recognizing him; their eyes were "holden". He said unto them, "What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?" and they stood still, looking sad because of Jesus' death (Luke 24:13-17). The scriptures go on to tell the story in which Jesus continued on the road with them explaining the scriptures to them and yet they still did not recognize or identify him as Jesus. The disciples could not identify the very one they lived with for nearly three years!

The disciples, who walked with Jesus as he walked the earth 2,000 yrs ago, did not recognize the very Lord and Master they served and followed, as he spoke with them face-to-face!

How then shall the modern day Christian recognize and identify the true presence and spirit of Jesus to scripturally validate their Christian profession and true rebirth? It is written that those who do not have his spirit are none of his and do not know him (Romans 8:9, KJV). How many do you know that profess to be a Christian but do not actually know him or have his spirit? Are you able to discern those who are deceived? Are you able to discern if you are possibly deceived?

The New Testament documents a number of ways in which the professing Christian can scripturally identify the true spirit and person of Christ; ways which Jesus himself stated will keep you from deception, for there will be many who proclaim "Here is the Christ", "I am the Christ", or "I am of the body of Christ". Jesus distinctly warned, "Do not be deceived". If they do not possess certain characteristics or scripturally identifying marks that are unique to what he has defined to confirm the true rebirth, do not believe them. Do Not Follow them!

Do Not Be Deceived

Matthew 24:4,5,11,24, KJV

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceives you.

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

And many false prophets (religious imposters) shall rise and deceive many.

For there shall arise false Christs (those pretending to have the spriit of Christ), and false prophets (those who falsely speak the message of Christ in the name of Christ), and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch that, if it were possible, even the elect.

1 John 4:1, KJV

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because
