Should A Christian Ask God For Forgiveness Every Time They Sin?

Updated: Nov 16, 2022

Does the true Christian experience involve asking God for forgiveness dozens of times a day for minor and major sins including "bad thoughts"?

2 Corinthians 3:17, KJV "Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty"

In direct relation to Christianity, a professing Christian that finds themselves committing sin, even if just one act, after confessing loyalty to Christ at Baptism, reveals a crucial undeniable truth concerning the condition and state of their soul:

The true state of their soul is NOT FREE

In fact, THEY ARE STILL IN BONDAGE!

This is a serious problem!

Jesus said that, "The one who commit sin is indeed a slave to sin" (John 8: 34, KJV). This scripture confirms that they are still in bondage. This is the Biblical evidence that the spirit of Jesus does not dwell within that vessel because where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty/freedom!

2 Corinthians 3:17, KJV

"Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty"

This is the proof that is needed and necessary to know that somewhere along the process, the true message and experience of being Biblically born-again was misunderstood.

The one thing that sets apart a genuine Biblically defined Christian is the reality of Jesus' spirit dwelling within that individual. Otherwise they are simply making a false profession of faith. "Those who do not have the spirit of Christ are none of his" (Romans 8:9, KJV).

The shocking truth and reality: They will NOT enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

This truth is not verified by emotional assurances, but it is Biblically verified through the exact confirmations that Jesus stated would be visibly present and experienced by those who are truly possessed by his spirit.

One of those supernatural experiences and confirmations is the sinless life. The one who possesses the true spirit of Christ is no longer bound to sin; they are no longer in bondage! Remember, the scriptures clearly state, "Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty/Freedom"

They do not sin!!

2 Corinthians 3:17, KJV

"Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty"

Jesus said that those who do not have his spirit will reject his teachings, and this is one teaching that is adamantly rejected by professing Christians!!! It sounds foreign to them and difficult to accept. Why? Because many "professing" Christians have not truly experienced the supernatural power of being genuinely born-again as Jesus described within the scriptures.

Generally speaking, when the human mind is consistently faced with something that seems insurmountable, over time the mind finds a way to adjust and accept defeat. However, when the possibility of being free resurfaces, there is an antagonistic element that comes into play, as they have adjusted and now believe the lie that they can never be free.

FREEDOM!

It is written that Jesus came to,"set his people FREE from sin. You are either literally FREE from sin or "Hoping" to be free from sin. Repeated acts of sin followed by repeated requests of repentance and forgiveness exposes the deception of the one who is convinced that they are a Biblical Christian, when in fact, they are only "hoping" to experience the true freedom Jesus promised. To those who have truly been born-again it is a tangible reality and not just a "hope". Jesus set them free!

For those who have been genuinely born-again, repentance is a one-time experience. The genuine Christian experience is a supernatural experience that very few have encountered.

"Being Set Free from sin references a spiritual release from bondage associated with the desire to act in disobedience to the Laws and Commandments established by the GOD of Israel". – Meeka Six

The Question remains, How does the spirit of Jesus actually set someone free from sin?
